The Scoop - Overview

This is an awesome 3D video game design camp! Learn level design from the initial concept and creative process, ultimately developing your very own 1st person shooter video game that looks and plays just like the console games you play at home. Using the powerful software FPS Creator ™, students will drag and drop mechanics for ultimate customization. Create action-packed maps and mazes then choose from hundreds of game elements including weapons, ammo, enemies, picks ups, lifts, teleports, ladders, trigger points and more. Skill Level, Ages & Tuition

Customized for beginner to advanced learners ages 12-17. Curriculum is delivered in small student clusters and individually tailored to each student. Our Recommendations

There are no prerequisites for this course. Think you can build better games than your favorite game designers? Would you like to “put yourself in the driver’s seat,” designing 1st-person shooter 3D games? If so, this video game camp is perfect for you. This exciting course will both challenge and give you the freedom to bring your imagination to life. The advanced graphics are stunning, and will remind you of real-life console games. The curriculum is structured to encourage students to think critically about level design.

Please Note: The software used in this course may contain violence. Projects can be made without the use of violence, but you may want to consider one of these courses: Game Creation - Arcade & Platform or possibly 3D Game Design - Role Playing Games for software that is inherently less violent in nature.

How We Teach

iD Tech Camps students receive the highest caliber technology education any summer camp has to offer! Students in this summer camp for teens will be able to move along faster and more independently, or collaborate utilizing our customized lessons—while still receiving our gold standard 1-on-1 instruction (average 6 students per staff). Gaming Activities: Gaming Tournaments, Ultimate Gaming Weekends

General gameplay is a fun aspect of our summer camps, but does not infringe on instructional time. This season will feature Gaming Tournaments and Ultimate Gaming Weekends showcasing the industry’s best. We use NVIDIA® GeForce® gaming cards for peak gaming performance. Students will play BIG titles from Epic Games®, Activision®, Blizzard Entertainment®, THQ®, Microsoft® GameStudios™ and more. In order to offer the most cutting edge experience for our campers, we have adopted the policy of allowing the use of some select games with ESRB ratings of “E” for Everyone, “T” for Teen and “M” for Mature to be used as part of our curriculum in a supervised environment. We take our corporate responsibility and iD family values very seriously, but cannot guarantee that younger students will avoid complete contact with these games. Please know that we make every effort to minimize exposure to any games not appropriate for these age groups.

Balance is the key to every week at iD. While we are in the labs a majority of the day, we certainly take time out for fun summer camp activities. Students may participate in ultimate frisbee, capture-the-flag, fun outdoor teambuilding games, soccer, etc. If sports not your thing, no worries!
