The Scoop - Overview

Hang Ten in this hybrid surf camp in California and Hawaii. iD Tech Camps has teamed up with acclaimed surf camps in Santa Cruz, San Diego and Honolulu to bring you this exciting computer camp and surf camp hybrid. Students will be able to exercise their minds as well as their bodies for a week of absolute FUN! Our surf camp is perfect for both beginner students and those hoping to further develop their skills. Skill Level, Ages & Tuition

Students in this hybrid summer camp will receive top surf instruction and technical instruction for a well-balanced summer camp program. Technical instruction is for beginner to intermediate learners ages 11-17. Surf instruction is for beginner to advanced learners.

There is a $300 surf fee associated with this summer camp.

Recommendation

This is a great camp for families who want to vacation in one of three top tourist destinations - but want the kids to have fun and learn something new. Mom and Dad can get a little down time while the kids are having a blast at camp!

Program Details

Daily Schedule: You will spend half the day at our summer camp in the computer lab and the other half learning to surf on the famous shores of California or Hawaii. Between tech time and surf time, you will go to lunch. The determination of whether you will spend the morning in the tech segment or the surf segment will be made upon your arrival at camp. Camp is still in session on Friday, but there will be no surf instruction.

Please note: Students will go home with a final project at the end of the week.

Campers Choose Between Two Tech Focuses

Game Design: Learn the creative game-making process. Students will create a complex, realistic video game with everything from health meters to collision detection. You’ll design graphics and create multiple levels using Clickteam® Multimedia Fusion 2 Developer®.

Web Design & Flash® Animation: Create a dynamic website that will be uploaded to the web for the whole world to see. Learn HTML, and build in exciting graphics using industry-standard products from Adobe® and Wacom®.

How We Teach

Tech Instruction: iD Tech Camps students receive the highest caliber technology education any summer camp has to offer! Students in this summer camp for kids and teens receive our gold standard 1-on-1 instruction (average 6 students per staff). Using the latest in hardware and software, our all-adult staff work hands-on with each student from project theory to completion (you won’t find counselors-in-training at iD). Gaming Activities: Gaming Tournaments, Ultimate Gaming Weekends

General gameplay is a fun aspect of our summer camps, but does not infringe on instructional time. This season will feature Gaming Tournaments and Ultimate Gaming Weekends showcasing the industry’s best. We use NVIDIA GeForce® gaming cards for peak gaming performance. Students will play BIG titles from Epic Games®, Activision®, Blizzard® Entertainment, Electronic Arts™, Microsoft® GameStudios™ and more. In order to offer the most cutting edge experience for our campers, we have adopted the policy of allowing the use of some select games with ESRB ratings of “E” for Everyone, “T” for Teen and “M” for Mature to be used as part of our curriculum in a supervised environment. We take our corporate responsibility and iD family values very seriously, but cannot guarantee that younger students will avoid complete contact with these games. Please know that we make every effort to minimize exposure to any games not appropriate for these age groups.

Cool Summer Camp Activities

Balance is the key to every week at iD. While we are in the labs a majority of the day, we certainly take time out for fun summer camp activities. Students may participate in ultimate frisbee, capture-the-flag, fun outdoor teambuilding games, soccer, etc. If sports are not your thing, no worries! We've got awesome gaming tournaments, Guitar Hero III, social time and more! Details.
